This isn't a bug on Konga Beat, but I was wondering how do you convert Unicode Japanese to shiftJIS.
Since I'm working on a song with a Japanese title and a Japanese subtitle (alongside the project that I experienced a now-fixed bug), I wanted the Japanese song and subtitle to properly appear in Donkey Konga 2 and 3.
I was wondering if there is a way to convert Unicode Japanese to shiftJIS through Konga Beat, or at least after converting the song, and then messing around with the project's .txt file.

I have provided a screenshot as proof.
(On an unrelated note, I managed to find a way to upload these images: Click the empty space to create a thread, click more options, then upload your screenshot through the Insert Image option. That is unrelated to the question, but I thought everyone should know about it.)

In the past, I would change the encoding of the text file with Notepad++ (Encoding > Character sets > Japanese > Shift-JIS). That said, this approach goes back to when the SongInfo.res file had to be modified manually, predating Konga Launcher automating a lot of the process for loading custom tracks.

I'll take a crack at adding Shift JIS encoding to Konga Beat's exporting tool. Could you share what the text at the bottom is supposed to be? That should help me with testing my implementation.

In the process of adding Shift JIS encoding to Konga Beat, I discovered Konga Launcher erroneously encodes SongInfo.res as UTF-8, so I put together a fix for that as well (both contribute to this issue). I believe with these changes your song's information should render correctly in the game now. I PM'd you a screenshot to show how it looks on my end using the updated versions of KB and KL.

I'll have new builds for both up here tomorrow (err, I guess later today actually) with updates to itch.io not long after.
 
I uploaded the updated builds of Konga Beat and Konga Launcher with proper Shift JIS encoding here:

Konga Launcher 0.9.2 (Windows Installer)

I'll also be pushing out these updates to itch.io either tonight or tomorrow.

It appears that the Shift JIS encoder has re-broke the previous fix bug where the file refuses to export or playtest.
While the MIDI file appears to be rendered properly, the .txt file appears to go unrender due to this issue.

I'll send you the file through PM again to be tested through ver. 1.0.4.
I also renamed and recategorized this thread to reflect the re-discovery of this bug.

For now, I have decide to devolve to ver. 1.0.3 for playtesting purpose.

Ah, dang. I'm sorry you're running into so much trouble! I'll look into this after I fix the tempo marker bug.
 
I figured out the issue: for whatever reason Shift JIS is included as an encoding option by default within the Unity Editor, but not as part of games/apps built with Unity. I originally included a check for Shift JIS to try accounting for this scenario. However, when that check happens, Unity (the engine) reports the encoding as being present despite not actually being there, so Shift JIS is never loaded and Konga Beat is unable to write out the .txt file correctly. This has now been corrected in the most recent build (the same build is linked in the other thread):
