Konga Beat 1.1.1 - Windows, Linux (Download) [Patch Notes]
The Donkey Konga games, like many other GameCube titles, encode their audio using Nintendo’s DSP file format. When the project first kicked off back in late 2019, the code behind Konga Beat’s WAV-to-DSP conversion relied on Windows-specific system calls. At the time, I was developing almost exclusively on Windows, so there wasn’t much impetus to make Konga Beat into a multiplatform application.Over time, that changed. I upgraded my underpowered 2013 MacBook Pro to an M1 MacBook Pro and eventually abandoned Windows on my desktop in favor of Linux (Fedora). I gradually spent more and more development time on Konga Beat using platforms other than Windows. As a result, 90% of the work required to get Konga Beat working on Linux was already done just to facilitate my own development process. It wasn’t until I received a request for a Linux port, however, that I finally tackled the remaining 10%.
I’m now pleased to announce that Konga Beat is officially available on Linux! The Linux release has full feature parity with the Windows version, including the ability to connect to Konga Launcher (requires Konga Launcher 0.9.3 or newer). This update addresses a bug reported by DisGuy. The Linux version also adds support for Konga Beat integration. If you plan on using the Linux version of Konga Beat, make sure to grab the latest Konga Launcher as well.Coming Soon
